"We're just friends"© is about a guy and a girl who got a relationship going fast and furious, but ended abruptly. It seems for whatever reason, the girl decided the relationship was a mistake and reverted back to the status of "Friends". The guy is left hanging on an emotional roller coaster. He does all he can to remind her of what they once had, even trying to paint a picture of how their future would be. But NOOOOOO, they're just friends.

This song was the first song I had written after 10 years of not even singing a note, or playing an instrument. About a year after I started singing again, around October of 2001, I bought a guitar. Only two weeks after that, I had written all of "We're just friends" except for the bridge. I put the song away for several month because I felt it was boring (this was mostly because of my poor guitar playing. I have basically have had to learn from the beginning how to play guitar again). A few months later, I started playing the song in a more aggressive, choppy style and started to like it. I added the bridge and it was completed.
